Symptoms
You click on the Internet Explorer icon, an hourglass appears
and then nothing happens.
Cause
This is usually caused by too many running processes using a
majority of the system’s resources. This is usually due
to spyware.
Resolution
- First close all unnecessary programs running in the taskbar.
- Bring up the End Task window.
- Go through the list of running programs that are left and
end task on programs that are not necessary, keeping in mind
to look for spyware and closing them down.
- Open the System Configuration Utility (Start-Run- type in
“msconfig:- OK ) and click on the start up tab
- Uncheck the spyware and any other programs that do not need
to start when the computer starts
- Restart the computer
- After computer restarts, a screen will appear about using
selective start up. A check mark can be placed in the box to
“not show this again.”
- Try to open Internet Explorer
More Information
If you are unsure of some programs in the start up tab, it is
best to research the program prior to disabling at start up.
In order to fix the above issue, you must download
a program to remove spyware. Update the program and do a full
system scan.
