Modem Properties on Windows XP

 

1. Click on Start,

2. Go to Control Panel, a Control Panel window should open.

3. Click switch to Classic View along the left hand side

4. Double click on Phone and Modem Options icon

2. A Phone and Modem Options window should appear.

3. Select the Modems tab, select the desired modem by clicking to highlight it and click the Properties button.

4. A Modem Properties window should appear.

5. Click the Modem tab to display the modems Speaker volume, Maximum Port Speed and if it is set to Wait for a Dialtone before dialing.

 

6. Click the Diagnostics tab. To run a Modem Diagnostic click the Query Modem button. It will issue modem Commands and return a Response if the modem is functioning properly.

7. Click the Advanced tab. The Extra initialization commands field is used for modem initialization strings.

 

8. Click Advanced Port Settings to view the Port settings for the selected modem Communications Port.
