Modem Settings for a Windows 2000 Connection
1. Click on Start, go to Settings, and Click on Control Panel 
2. Double click on the Phone and Modem Options icon on the Control Panel.
3. A Phone and Modem Options window should appear.
4. Select the Modems tab, select the desired modem by clicking to highlight it and click the Properties button.
5. A Modem Properties window should appear.
6. Click the Diagnostics tab. To run a Modem Diagnostic click the Query Modem button. It will issue modem Commands and return a Response if the modem is functioning properly.
7. Click the Advanced tab. The Extra initialization commands field is used for modem initialization strings.
