Why do I frequently get disconnected from the Internet?

Most of the time this is due to an unstable connection between your modem and our modem. This problem can usually be fixed by updating your modem drivers. You can also put in an initialization string to help your modem make a more stable connection. For help with this, please contact technical support. If it only seems to disconnect after you open Outlook Express it could be a very easy setting to fix. Click here to learn how to check Outlooks settings.

Why does my 56kbps modem connect at a slower speed?

Actual speeds may vary depending on your telephone line conditions. Initial modem speeds shown on connection is the speed at which the modem connected. Speeds will vary during connection. For example, you may show an initial connection speed of 28 Kbps but your connection could be transmitting at over 40 Kbps. Your initial connection speed would not change. We do not guarantee connection speeds due to variables beyond our control.

All 56k modems are capable of 56 Kbps downloads. However, due to FCC regulations which restrict the power output of service provider's modems, current download speeds are limited to approximately 53 Kbps.
